    Topic: Medicare 101

     

    Topic Description: Helping HR professionals to assist employees in determining which insurance is best for their needs; Medicare (if eligible), employer insurance or COBRA.

    Speaker Bio:

    Earned a Virginia life and health insurance license in 2006. To maintain a life and health license, 16 hours of continuing education are required every two years, with three of those 16 hours dedicated to ethics. Any agent who wishes to sell Medicare Advantage (MA) and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) must annually complete an online class through America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), which takes about 20-25 hours to complete. A score of at least 90% is required to pass, and it must be done in three attempts or less. In the past six years, for which the records show on the AHIP website, my scores have been 100% in four of those six years. When that is accomplished, agents must complete another certification for each MA and PDP company they wish to represent in the upcoming plan year. Each recertification takes about five hours to finish. Earned Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) in 2012 from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA)
