June 12, 2008 Chapter Meeting Minutes
The June 2008 chapter meeting was held at Lynchburg College. President Betsy called the meeting to order at 12:20.
President Betsy Phillips welcomed members and recognized guests.
Betsy then turned the floor over to Tom Davidson, Richmond SHRM member, who shared information about the VA State Conference in Richmond to be held on October 22-24, 2008.
Ben Mayhew, Director of the Mason City, at Lynchburg College updated the group of things happening at LC.
The May 7, 2008 chapter meeting minutes were approved as submitted.
Betsy Phillips gave highlights of the June Board Meeting.
Betsy Phillips reported for Bill Symonds the account balance is $11,547.31 and estimated reserves of $7,000.
Barbara Nash announced the scholarship winners:

The following recipients were present at the meeting: Jessie Sheffield and Lindsey Sullivan.
Betsy announced that the July social will from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Old City Cemetery. She reminded everyone to please bring something for a door prize. Bruce Christian shared information about the Old City Cemetery.
Betsy than turned the floor over to Curtis Crews. Curtis introduced Kim McIvor with VEC, Sam Lupica, CEO of the VEC, and Shelby Robinson, Asst. Commissioner.
Sam Lupica shared VEC’s vision with the group. Our next speaker was Shelby Robinson who shared information on: VEC Services Beyond Unemployment Insurance, Levels of Service Available after Staff Reduction and The New Unemployment Insurance System.
Betsy presented the speaker with a gift.
Donna Honeycutt won the door prize donated by Danielle Booker-Perry.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
