Topic: Turning the Tables: Reverse Mentoring for Learning, Adapting and Leading

Topic Description: How are you learning from the generations coming up in the workforce?
Are there key learnings you can glean just by asking the right questions?
What do leaders need to know to create win-win partnership in the workplace.
At this SHRM luncheon you’ll hear about two examples of “reverse mentoring” that the
Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance has conducted from the younger generations.

    Three Learning Objectives:

    • Learn how to conduct a reverse mentioned experience and why you should
    • Identify what you need to ask in order to successfully engage the next generation of workers
    • Capture next steps for your own organization with regard to reverse mentoring

Speaker: Charity Medina & Christine Kennedy

    Speaker Bio:

Christine Kennedy: With over 20 years of experience in the Chamber of Commerce and
nonprofit industry, Christine has dedicated her career to empowering individuals and
organizations to reach their fullest potential. As the COO and Executive Vice President of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, she has been the driving force behind the nationally
recognized Leadership Lynchburg programs that cultivate the next generation of changemakers.
A certified Life and Leadership Purpose Coach, Christine’s expertise extends beyond strategy
and management—she is a mentor, a connector, and a tireless advocate for personal and
professional growth. Her impact has been widely recognized, earning her prestigious awards,
including the Leadership Achievement Award from Toastmasters International and being named
Best Business Mentor/Coach by Lynchburg Business Magazine.
Christine is not just a leader—she is a visionary. A dynamic and eloquent communicator, she has
an extraordinary ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge others to step into their purpose with
confidence. Whether she’s coaching executives, facilitating leadership development, or speaking
on life balance and strategic planning, her message is clear: Leadership is about positive
influence, intentional action and making a lasting impact.
Beyond her professional success, Christine is a woman of resilience and courage, a breast cancer survivor whose strength and determination continue to inspire those around her. She and her husband have created The Sanctuary, a peaceful retreat on their restored 1860s farm, where over 500 individuals and couples have come to pray, reflect, dream, and vision for life.

Charity Medina:As a seasoned Operations and HR leader, Charity gets it. She’s spent her career at the intersection of people and processes, positioning teams for success, with an eye towards process and operations efficiency. In the course of her career, Charity has worked with clients of all sectors in project management and operations roles. Her career pivoted into leadership coaching about 5 years ago.  In 2021 Charity became a Certified Working Genius Facilitator, introducing Patrick Lencioni’s framework that transforms teams using this simple method. It’s her passion to see people working in their individual zones of genius and thriving in their everyday work.  Charity joined Leadr in 2025 as a Coach to train 1 million leaders. She resides in Central
Virginia with her husband and two daughters. She coaches (and plays!) basketball and is
involved in her church, and local nonprofits. Fun facts, Charity speaks Spanish, makes time for
burn boot camp workouts and played roller derby in Savannah, GA.
