Topic: Workplace Conduct Investigations - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Everyone knows that a company should have a policy and do an investigation. But what happens when the investigation goes wrong? When employees quit? When the complainant is anonymous? When a current employee files the complaint with the EEOC before filing with the Company? Striking the right balance between doing enough vs. too much can be difficult. Whether it is a complaint of discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, theft, drug abuse, workplace injury, etc., how you respond and being prepared are critically important in avoiding liability for employee wrongdoing. This session will provide not only tips for how to conduct investigations, but also insight from subsequent litigation and how the underlying investigations could have been done differently.
