Topic: "Future Advance in Technology, Past, Present and Future"
Speaker: Liberty University Student SHRM Chapter (w/ Dr. Tammy Brown)
With the recent advancements in technology, human resources professionals are being tasked with balancing between adapting to new automations and keeping their business moving forward. Traditional HR was once largely carried out as an administrative function in the business. Now, however, as technology and automation can easily and more efficiently replicate the administrative functions, human resources need to begin taking on a new strategic business role. Through four core methods, human resource departments can be preparing for technological changes to take place in the next decade. One thing Human resource professionals can do is to improve on their overall business acumen relative to business management. Another thing that they can do is learn and improve on people analytics to create, read, and interpret for the betterment of the business. HR can also work to improve their overall cognitive and interpersonal skills. Lastly, with all these practical ways to improve, human resource professionals should be looking for opportunities to work along-side technology, with neither function replacing the other. Human resource professionals that are proactive in the wake of technological outbursts will create opportunities to flourish.
