The Competency Wheel: A developmental method to discuss, frame, and bolster employee performance for transformational leadership.

Sometimes the simplest tools can be the most effective in sending a message.  You’ll learn how to create and use a simple wheel to define expectations; give feedback; and have productive, transformational performance conversations with your employees.  You’ll also have the opportunity to experience the wheel as a tool for creating work/life balance.

    Kathy Baske-Young

Originally from Chicago, Kathy spent a number of years in television, working in Minneapolis, New York City, Norfolk, Raleigh and most recently as VP/Sales for the NBC owned and operated station in Washington D.C.  When she felt she was “fully cooked” in broadcasting, she embarked on a career as an Executive Coach, getting her ICF certification in 1999 and moving to Roanoke where she and her husband could enjoy the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and become involved in the community.

Kathy’s practice includes executive coaching for “leaders of leaders”, team coaching, and strategic planning and retreats.  She works in industries as diverse as manufacturing, healthcare, professional sports, high tech and advertising.

She currently serves as board chairman of Saint Francis Service Dogs, is on the United Way board, and is the past chair of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. She also served on the Virginia Governor’s Council on the Status of Women and has been a recipient of the YWCA of the Roanoke Valley Women of Achievement Award for Business.

As a side note, she is known for her sense of humor, her cooking mishaps and her endless journey to pass the test (with her lab Jackson) to be a Therapy Dog couple.
