This one hour presentation by Jason McDaniel will broadly review the rising importance of employee engagement as a business challenge as well as an HR imperative.  Beyond a review of the explanatory theories and commonly held drivers of engagement, this training will seek to contextualize the employee’s experience of work within the broader contemporary corporate and societal environments.  It will be argued that the modern world is one of increased fragmentation, not only in terms of the stresses on human capacity resulting from excessive demands on time and attention, but that fragmentation has also ballooned because of a frayed loyalty and commitment to the employer-employee social contract that is “work”.

Training participants will become familiar with the relationships between employee engagement efforts, effective human resource management systems, and the fulfillment of business goals and objectives.  Participants will be specifically challenged to consider the broader societal and corporate contexts in which their employees function, thereby gaining a greater understanding of how their companies can consistently grow the loyal attention of their workforce.  Training participants will be encouraged to offer their own practice wisdom and suggestions for improving employee engagement.
