The 2008-2009 financial crisis put business ethics back in the headlines, and we have to ask ourselves:  What more can HR professionals do to create ethical business cultures that will deter  questionable business practices in the future?  This presentation looks at the six basic building blocks of a comprehensive business ethics program, the ethics requirements mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and research data from several recent studies, including SHRM’s 2008 survey, “The Ethics Landscape in American Business.”  Participants will also take away a better sense of how to get employees excited about ethics using innovative tools such as Cisco’s “Ethics Idol” program.

Pamela J. Green is a champion for HR Professionals. A business leader herself for over 25 years, with 16 of those years spent leading Human Resources departments. She pulls on these experiences in everything she sets her heart and mind to do - especially when conducting presentations and writing. Pam just published her first book, a career roadmap for human resource professionals on how to thrive as a 21st century HR Leader titled Lead, Achieve and Succeed in HR.

Before going into Association Management where she now serves as Vice President, for US Membership, for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Pamela served as the top HR Leader in organizations such HeadStart and the American Red Cross, and served as a business leader in a variety of roles in the healthcare field. She also holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Human Resources and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio where she was born and raised.

SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to serving the human resource professional and advancing the human resource profession. SHRM’s mission is to be the global HR professional association that will provide thought leadership, education, and research to human resource professionals, media, government, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions to share expertise and create innovative solutions on people management issues.

Pam considers herself a “dabbler” in social media, a “lightweight” blogger, and has she been quoted by local and national publications. Pamela has served the community in many capacities including serving on a host of boards and speaking across the country at national events. Now residing in the beautiful city of Bowie, Maryland she prefers to spend her down time with her husband, son and their pet Boxer, Sasha!
