December 7, 2007 Board Meeting Minutes

Board Members Present: Phyllis Calvert, Shameka Wright, Iris Allen, Gary Davis, Bill Symonds, Kenny Richardson, and Barbara Parker.

The SHRM Board met on December 7, 2007, at Famous Anthony’s on Wards Road. President Phyllis Calvert called the meeting to order at 8:45 am.

Phyllis asked if anyone had any recommendation for the Michael Losey Human Resource Research Award. She will check with Colleen McLaughlin and Lee Boyd.

It was suggested that Bruce Christian be responsible for delivering the items collected for the food bank.

Shameka Wright reported that the January speaker will be Jamie Quetglez, Region 2000 Young Professionals.

The board selected the menu for our 2007 meetings from the choices provided by Charley’s.

A discussion was held on setting up a chapter mileage reimbursement policy. Bill will check with SHRM for their policy.

Bill distributed the budget report as of 11/30/07.

Danielle has updated the chapter membership application form and will have it placed on our website. Dues will remain at $45 per year.

Barbara Parker reported that Gideon Hale and Rachael Wheaton received their PHR certification. She also distributed handouts for a new HR course (Employee Recruitment and Retention) that will be offered at CVCC Spring 2008.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.

ADDENDUM TO - December 7, 2007 Board Meeting Minutes

Bill Symonds contacted Shelly Trent at SHRM regarding the mileage issue. They reimburse mileage at the .485 rate. An e-mail survey was done with Board members. All responses (9) agreed to follow the SHRM policy and reimburse mileage at .485 per mile. This is the IRS rate.
