The August meeting was held at the Wingate Inn on August 9, 2007.
Phyllis called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m. and welcomed members and guests.
The July minutes were approved as submitted.
Bill Symonds reported the account balance was $11,529.95 and we have 113 paid members.
Sandy asked everyone to take the time to fill out the evaluation forms.
Barbara Parker handed out flyers from E. C. Glass High School on their program to “Just Hire One”. Just hire one student. If you are unfamiliar with this program, please contact Barbara Parker or E. C. Glass High School.
Phyllis congratulated Stacy Angel on earning her PHR certification and announced the September meeting will be HRCI certified for 1.5 credits.
Phyllis turned the floor over to Curtis Crews. Curtis introduced Jason Padgett, representative for Shannon Valentine. Jason stated that Ms. Valentine sent her regrets for not being able to attend and that he was there to take notes for her. He also stated that if anyone needed Ms. Valentine’s assistance to contract her office. Curtis then introduced Kathy Bryon.
Kathy spoke about some of the bills that had already passed and those bills still coming up for votes. It was a very interesting topic. Curtis then opened the floor for questions. Curtis thanked Kathy and Jason for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend and speak at this meeting.
Gary Davis won the door prize provided by Carol Giles and Stacy Angel won the Wyngate cookies.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
